DAILY GUIDANCE FROM GOD DEVOTIONAL - Oct 19th, 2023

Thursday, October 19th, 2023 AD / Yom Chamishi, 4th of Cheshvan, 5784 (Hebrew Calendar)

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31-32

No matter how hard you try to live your daily life so that it is pleasing to God, you will make mistakes and you will fall into sin because you are human. The good news is, that God will forgive you of your sins and your mistakes but you must ask Him for forgiveness with a truthful heart. Regardless of the good deeds you do, the kindness you show to others, or the people you try to help, there will always be someone that will try to judge you or criticize your life. These people are the ones who need God the most because if they are judging you based on your sins they don't understand that not only is God the ultimate judge, but He is also the only way to be forgiven of your sins. God tells us in Matthew 7:1, Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. He also tells us in Matthew 6:14-15, If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. In order to be pleasing to God you must not judge people and you must forgive them if they have sinned against you. Forgiveness is not a sign of weakness, it is the attribute of the strong because they know how to forgive because they have been forgiven by God. Those who do not know how to forgive are weak because it takes strength to forgive and hold back negative, thoughts, words and actions.

LET'S PRAY: Dear Heavenly Father, I want to thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace upon me. It's because of Your love for me that I have the gift of eternal life. It's because of Your mercy on me that I am forgiven. Lord, I ask You fill my heart with peace and joy and allow my heart to be a cleaner, kinder, wiser, and more-prayerful heart. I ask that You renew the spirit within me that in all things I may please You. Lord, reveal to me where my words, thoughts, or actions are not pleasing in Your sight. I want to be slow-to-anger, and quick-to-forgive. Lord, Give me the strength to forgive those who have sinned against me and help me let go of any anger within me. May envy, anger, discontentment, and evil thoughts never take root in my heart. As I forgive all those who wrong me, I ask that you will forgive me too, and bless me with all good and perfect gifts that will come to those who do what's right. In Jesus name we pray, Amen
