3 For I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the eyes of my mother,
4 Then he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; Guard my commands, and live.
Proverbs 4:3-4 TS2009
In the wisdom of Solomon, the tender son of David and the beloved of his mother, we are given a pattern for renewal that speaks directly to the heart of America’s moral and spiritual turning point. When Solomon recalls being taught, “Let your heart hold fast my words; guard my commands, and live,” he is describing the divine foundation of generational wisdom—the covenant between father and son, between Creator and creation—that sustains life and liberty. America, like a prodigal child, has drifted far from this inheritance. Our nation was once tender in its beginnings, born in the eyes of divine providence, nurtured by a moral mother—the faith of its people—and guided by the wise counsel of its founding fathers. But over the last one hundred sixty years, as pride and forgetfulness have taken root, the heart of our nation has grown cold, no longer holding fast to the words that gave it life. This moment marks a call to return to the Father’s instruction—to guard the everlasting commands of truth, righteousness, and justice—and thereby live once more as a people blessed by the favor of the Creator. The turning point for America requires a reawakening of the heart of the people: a remembrance of who we are, whose we are, and what our mission is as a people and as a nation. When the hearts of the sons turn back to the wisdom of their fathers, and the mothers of our nation weep again for righteousness, America will find renewal—not through policy or politics, but through the living Word that restores life to the soul and breath to a weary land.
